Maternity wear sizing
- We advise you to buy your pre-pregnant size. Styles have been cut to allow for your changing shape but should fit the following approximate figure measurements.
- Please note that garment measurements vary according to the design.
- Items sized S, M, L are cut in extra stretchy fabric to fit both size groups.
- Lengths are calculated from under the waist band on Skirts, nape of neck to hem on dresses and inside leg on trousers and shorts.
- Elasticated waist bands on Maternity Clothes (where stated) have adjustable button elastic. For comfort and fit simply adjust the width by moving from one buttonhole to the next as you grow and take in again after the birth.

A guide to waistband styles
Under-bump jersey waistband with drawstring
Ideal for lightweight & casual styles, great for keeping cool during warmer summer weather. Drawstring ensures snug fit.
Stretchy over-bump waistband
Authentic style suitable for styles made from stretch fabrics, e.g. stretch denim jeans. Cleverly cut to cover & stretch over bump.

Comfortable style which will see you through all nine months. Stretchy bandeau can be rolled up over bump or folded down under-bump, giving great comfort and support.
Adjustable over-bump waistband with buttonhole elastic
Elasticated waist adjusts as you grow, always giving you a cool and comfortable fit.
Under-bump bandeau with woven waistband
Combines authentic styling with the comfort and support of a jersey bandeau.
Under-bump bandeau with buttonhole elastic
Maintains a sleek look to the back but with the added comfort and support of a covered under-bump elastic bandeau to the front.
Jersey bandeau with buttonhole elastic
Great for fitted back styles and to show off a 'normal' back view, but with all the stretch and comfort to the bump area. Fully adjustable as you grow.
Woven waistband with jersey panels and adjustable side straps
Ideal for tailored styles and a 'normal' looking front. Side panel has buttonhole elastic to adjust as you grow.
Large jersey bandeau with drawstring
Comfortable style which will see you through all nine months. Can be rolled up over bump or folded down under-bump. Drawstring for added adjustability.
Maternity and nursing bra sizing
Guidance in choosing your nursing bra size
If you find that your measurements don't correspond to the sizes listed below we recommend that you visit one of Our Stores for professional fitting. We carry a wider range of sizes in store and can advise you on the best style for you.
Once the milk comes in, the cup size will increase by at least one size, so nursing bras purchased before the birth should allow for this.
The rib cage size should reduce back to its pre-pregnant size within a few weeks of
the birth
- which is why nursing bras have so many back size adjustors. When trying a
bra before the birth, ensure that the back is on one of the loosest fittings, to allow
you to tighten it as rib cage retracts after the birth.
The nursing bras that fit before and after the birth will possibly not fit a couple of
months
later once a breastfeeding pattern has been established. You may need to purchase
smaller bras at this stage.
What will I need for pregnancy & breastfeeding?
As a minimum we suggest:
- 2 maternity bras and 2 nursing bras
- Or 4 nursing bras (which can be worn during the later stages of pregnancy)
- 2 sleep bras (unless the style chosen for the above is also suitable for sleep)
- 2 packs of nursing inserts
- 1 pregnancy support pillow
- Mattress protection sheet
In preparation for breastfeeding we also recommend that you have a supply of nipple cream. Camillosan is perfect and available from all chemists.

Baby & children's wear sizing
We are proud of our unique designs and we concentrate
on the following issues during development:
- Comfort - we stick to natural fibres (eg cotton or wool) wherever possible and test all fabrics for softness and suitability for delicate newborn and baby skin.
- Practicality - we know how difficult it is to dress a wriggly little baby and have designed many innovative ways of making this often tricky task much easier - such as wrap over bodies, sleepsuits that open completely flat and wrap over knits.
- Functionality - we aim to think as a parent & provide functional items, for example there is no toddler in the world who will not want to splash and even sit in a nice deep puddle. With this in mind we developed rainwear, which was totally waterproof but also breathable (so the child doesn't get hot and sweaty). Most rainwear is either shower proof and breathable or waterproof but made of non-breathable PVC. This is just one example out of hundreds of styles where we would not accept a compromise & sought the perfect solution even if, sometimes, it means the items are a little more expensive than less effective versions.
- Style - dressing your baby or child should be a huge pleasure and we make sure that our designs not only incorporate all of the above practical elements, but are also totally adorable. Even functional clothing like our Polar Fleece all-in-ones or our swim nappies have a real 'ahhhh' factor!

Children's accessories sizing
(socks, shoes, hats etc)
Our hat sizing chart is based on your child's head circumference and we recommend that you try to measure your child's head before ordering a hat. However, as their heads grow rapidly in the first couple of years and are different shapes and sizes, our sizing chart is meant to be a guideline only.
To measure your child's head circumference, wrap a tape measure around your child's head just above the eyebrows. Insert your index finger inside the tape measure to allow extra room for growth. Read the measurement and compare with the size chart below.

Children's swim nappies, bubbles, shorts & sunhat sizing
Most local authority swimming pools now demand that babies use swim nappies of some sort and JoJo swim nappies have consistently been highly recommended for their functionality and style.
For many years we have been extremely successful with our baby swim nappies and matching sun hats and accessories. We started selling swim nappies at a time when they were unknown in this country and parents used to put a normal nappy underneath their baby's swim suit. This resulted in a nasty water logged nappy, which did not perform and really weighed the baby down - impeding swimming and free movement in the water.
Our swim nappies are cleverly constructed so that they contain a polyurethane barrier (or layer), which sits between the outer fabric and the cotton lining. This barrier is waterproof and prevents 'accidents' from leaking out. The nappies are designed so that the elastic around the legs is tighter than on normal pants - it should not be uncomfortably tight but should fit snugly. It will not prevent liquids from leaking out but does keep solids in.
