Very pleased with the toy box looks lovely in the baby nursery. Well worth the money only negatives are the hinges won't let the lid shut completely but not a huge problem

We had an issue with the hinges on the chest when it was first constructed according to the instructions. The lid would not close flush. I contacted customer services who sent out some new hinges - these appear to work fine. There were also a couple of scuffs on the chest. One final niggle is that the lid does not open all of the way, so it is a struggle getting some items in and out. Overall though, I really like the appearance of the chest and it was just what I was looking for.

Perfect for what we wanted - hall storage for wellies and things. Hinges are a bit awkward but for our use they are fine, as toy box against the stairs.

Beautiful piece of furniture to tidy toys away. Lots of extra glue to overcome hinge concern.

Great toy chest, easy to put together, and like the lid that can't slam shut

Very pleased with the product, had no trouble assembling. Like the hinges as 11 month old daughter can't trap her fingers inside.

I love these boxes, they look great in the nursery. It didn't take long to build them, and as long as you have the hinges the right way round as in the picture, we had no trouble at all fitting them. A picture of it open with the hinges on view would probably help those struggling. It works as it should and my toddler will be safe using it, no trapped fingers! We bought two.

An excellent piece of furniture - well put together and easy for our three year old daughter to open and close.

my partner recently purchased this toy chest for our son looks nice but that's all I'm afraid.if you look up close there are scratches and scrapes on the wood I'm not sure what genius thought up these hinges but if they actually took time to look over it they would see that the hinge arms are not easily fitted for any customer and you need to have the patience of a saint to screw them in as they don't line up I was on my own and personally it should be a one man job not two and one of the screws have blunted as the amount of times I tried to screw it in and it just kept spinning which is quite annoying with hand screw driver thank god I didn't use a drill as they all the screw heads would of bee blunted no all in all I'm not happy but will have to keep it as it cost a lot of money

We bought this for our granddaughter. First of all, one side panel was missing, but customer services very quickly sent another. My sone then made the box, but had great trouble fitting the safety hinges (as does everyone else, it seems!) Now fitted, and it is a nice box. Shame the base is only hardboard; it might need re-inforcing in time.

Really pleased with this toy box, good quality, easy to assemble and the perfect size to finish off my nursery

It does the job but it's way overpriced for a couple of reasons:
    1) The hinges DO NOT fit. Basically everyone on here has had this problem so clearly a manufacturers fault.
    2) Its not solid wood, there's some cheap MDF pieces included so that makes it slightly tacky at the back.
But as I said overall presentation looks good and it is good storage.

Love it. Does what is says. No complaints. I actually find the hinges that everyone seems to be complaining about quite handy.

I've sadly only given the chest two stars and that's mainly for Jojos excellent customer service. The chest is a good size and pleasing to the eye. I read the previous reviews about the hinges but thought as my husband is very handy this wouldn't be a problem. Our first chest had to be sent back as the hinges ripped themselves out of the box. The customer service team were very responsive and organised a collection and replacement very quickly. We've put together the new one and this time it doesn't close properly. I see from the previous reviews someone else had the same problem. So I'm once again in communication with the customer service team. The website photos should show that the chest does not fully open and the instructions should include words not just pictures. Not sure right now if we're going to keep the chest.

This was bought as a gift and the product is a lovely looking toy chest but is terribly made, the safety hinges do not fit properly and the whole thing has just fell apart. This was quite expensive and now looking into buying a new toy chest as its not safe to keep in to house with small children.

The choice was between Homebase/Argos or JoJo but choose JoJo as it had more detailing. Waited a long time for it arrived. I think over a month longer than initially told. Quick to put together until adding the hinges, but I had already read the other reviews and was prepared for this! Overall happy with the toy chest so far. only fault is the lid does not fully close with the hinges. Intending to make a seat cushion to go on it but JoJo could not recommend the lid for sitting on?

Bought this chest to fit larger toys in. Agree with all the previous comments. Couldn't actually fit the hinges unless we pretty much broke the inside supporting panels, so haven't bothered. It does look great but time will tell if it will withstand the rigours of our 2.5 year old using it.

This is a very overpriced item. It looks like it's made of wood but the front panel and the bottom are just flimsy bits of hardboard and the other panels are mdf or similar. The panels themselves are easy to put together but the safety hinges are a nightmare. The instructions for these are useless, I figured it out eventually (if you're having trouble, I got them to fit by attaching the longer end to the inside of the box first with the exposed springs facing towards the back of the box. I then had to pretty much force the screws into the lid, with everything being so flimsy it felt like something was going to break but they did finally go on). On the plus side it looks nice once assembled and the hinges do stop the lid slamming shut. But the quality of the materials and the rubbish hinge instructions are very poor for a product at this price.

A very substantial toy chest with safe lid .
We have put these together and decorated them with the children's names using JoJo letters , for their Christmas presents

What a great product! Excellent quality & safety features, it looks great in my grandson's playroom. Sadly the ordering service was disapointing but I was delighted with the product

I recently purchased this product and it arrived looking like it had already been opened and stuck back together with celotape. When I tried to assemble it there were two of the same ends (part A) to the toy box, instead of part A and part B. On contacting customers services they were very apologetic and sent out the correct part which arrived in the next few days. When I then assembled the box,one of the metal parts holding the sides together, snapped and the box seemed generally quite flimsy and did not look like it would hold much. As in other reviews the hinges were a pain to put on and you cannot open the lid fully. Once opened, the lid stays open and only closes when pushed down, with no slow closing action. So my little one could still trap her fingers in the lid if she wanted to close it. We will be contacting customer services again about all the points mentioned above. Generally a disappointing buy.

The box is quite thin and more flimsy than I expected. Also the lid doesn't open fully due to the safety hinges. However the box fits the space we had and we get a good number of our baby's toys inside so it does the job.

We are very pleased with the chest now it is assembled but found the instructions for fitting the hinges very unclear.

A beautiful toy chest which I returned the day after receiving. After about an hour assembly as I could not understand the slam proof hinges, I realised the problem was the hinges. They mean the lid can not open fully, only about 50degrees and the hinges take up a lot of the space inside the box upon closing. Useless for me as I need all the space I can get for large, bulky baby toys.

This toy box has been very stressful, first the lid was missing but this was resolved quickly and a replacement was sent. Hinges to the toy chest lid were very stiff and took ages to be able to position them so that they would fit properly to do its purpose. After a few hours it was done! Lid doesn't open all the way, i don't know if this is intended or not but it opens enough. It doesn't keep falling down. Apart from all the hassle with the hinges its a nice toy box, decent size and plenty of space inside just a shame it was so stressful and time consuming to put together.

Bought for Grandaughters birthday and was very pleased with both product and price paid .
I particularly like the hinge with slow close
    Would recommend this product

Had to return our first chest to our local store after complaining to customer services, didn't find staff at both particularly helpful. Had problems with the hinges which we felt as well as chest were not top quality, managed to put together second chest successfully, instructions minimal, all a bit disappointing and no mention of compensation not what we expected from Jo Jo

Put together today and really pleased with the way it looks. Holds lots of toys and looks very solid. When I ordered the toy chest I was informed by Customer Services that they were out of stock but was regularly kept informed by e-mail of the progress of the order. Great service!

I brought this storage box in 2013 and absolutely love it. We will be buying another one this year. The box is great as fits in with any colour and has a good area for storing books, toys, teddies or even other personal items. Would highly recommend it.

Overall I am very pleased with this product - good looking, reasonably good quality and good size. I agree with the others about the assembly. The direction about how to put the hinges on can be improved. It took me less than 10 minutes to put the panels etc together but it took me about 45 minutes to figure out about the hinges. However once these are on properly, they are great features as the cover can be opened and closed safely without trapping those little fingers.

Good quality and design. Worth the wait for it to come back into stock.
  • review score 3 Sam on 03 July 2014
After a long, long wait and constant changing timescales for delivery, finally arrived! Agree with other reviews, quality could be better. Hinges a real pain and we are still not convinced we have them on right. Picture on instructions not clear. Doesn't open fully or soft close - so maybe we have hinges on wrong - some guidance would be helpful!! Looks good once built.

Well made and relatively easy to put together (the hinges were a bit awkward). Good strong toy chest that seems will withstand the tough times ahead.
  • review score 0 Samantha on 26 November 2013
This is a beautiful quality toy box. And reasonable in price compared to what else is on the market. The hinges inside were a 'two man job' to fit but other than that Love!
  • review score 0 Donna on 21 November 2013
Toy chest looks great even in our living room to keep toys tidy / out of sight. Lid good as shuts slowly making it harder to trap fingers in!

Assembly instructions easy to follow. Slight problem fitting hinges though due to Manufacturer's fixings/pre set positionings but rectified easily.

In addition to my earlier review, another disappointment is the quality of the material used. The website states that the chest is wooden, which suggested to me that it was made of wood and painted white. In fact, it appears to be little more than mdf with a white veneer, and bears little resemblance to wood.
  • review score 0 Alice on 08 November 2013
I am disappointed in this chest. It arrived with one thin piece noticeably split at the edge and some of the white surfaces had small scuff marks on them. The hinges on the lid of the chest had to be fixed on at such an awkward angle that the screws had to be almost forced in to the pre-drilled holes. The base of the chest is thin board and I have my doubts as to how much weight it will be able to bear. The surface of the chest marks easily, for example when my ring scraped gently across it while assembling the chest. On the good side, marks can be removed easily with a rubber, and the chest holds many toys. Overall, though, if I hadn't waited for 6 weeks for this to be delivered and wasn't in desperate need of something other than a plastic box to hold toys, I would have sent this chest back.
