- HOW TO MEASURE -
UNDER BUST
Wear a non-padded bra while standing in front of a mirror. Take a measuring tape, and wrap it around your torso, directly underneath your bust where the band is. Making sure the tape is snug and level, take the measurement (in either centimetres or inches).
Tip: If you’re in the middle of two numbers, round down
ACROSS BUST
This time, move the measuring tape over the fullest part of your breasts (usually over the nipples). Make sure the tape is level all the way around your torso and loose enough to not squeeze your bust. Take the measurement.
Tip: If in doubt, round up
- GOOD TO KNOW -
If you’re buying a nursing bra while still pregnant, keep in mind your cup size will increase by at least one size once your milk comes in.
Your rib cage should reduce back down to its pre-pregnancy size in the weeks after the birth, which is why nursing bras have so many back adjusters. When buying a nursing bra in the late stages of pregnancy, make sure the bra fits on the loosest setting so you can tighten it as your rib cage retracts.
Keep in mind that it’s possible your nursing bras might not fit a couple of months after your baby is born and a breastfeeding pattern has been established, so you might need to invest in smaller sizes at this stage.
