Warming Winter Recipes for Weaning with Beaba Babycook

Baby it’s cold outside… so let’s heat things up with Beaba's winter warmer recipes for you and your little one. They've even thrown in a Christmassy surprise to get you in the festive spirit, but they couldn’t leave out the sprouts!

HAM, ONION & BRUSSEL SPROUT PURÉE

SUITABLE FROM 6 MONTHS

INGREDIENTS

  • 90g brussels sprouts chopped
  • 175g ham cubed
  • 40g onion chopped
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Place the Brussels sprouts, ham and onion into the Béaba Babycook® steamer basket.
  • Pour water into the tank (level 3).
  • Start the cooking process.
  • When the Brussels sprouts, ham and onion are cooked, pour them into the Béaba Babycook® blending bowl, reserving the cooking liquid.
  • Add some of the cooking liquid to bring the purée to the desired consistency and blend.

HALIBUT, LEEK & BROCCOLI PURÉE

SUITABLE FROM 6 MONTHS

INGREDIENTS

  • 45g cup leeks chopped
  • 70g broccoli florets
  • 200g halibut cubed
  • 1 sprig of thyme
  • 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Place the leeks, broccoli, halibut and thyme in the Béaba Babycook® steamer basket and sprinkle dill over top.
  • Pour water into the tank (level 3).
  • Start the cooking process.
  • When the fish and vegetables are cooked, put them in the Béaba Babycook® blending bowl and set aside the cooking liquid.
  • Blend, adding the olive oil and some of the cooking liquid to bring to the desired consistency.

SWEET POTATO AND GINGER PURÉE

SUITABLE FROM 6 MONTHS

INGREDIENTS

  • 400g sweet potatoes cubed
  • 250g mango cubed
  • 1/2 - 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • 115 – 230g coconut milk

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Place the sweet potatoes, mango and ginger in the Béaba Babycook® steamer basket.
  • Pour water into the tank (level 3).
  • When the sweet potatoes, mango and ginger are cooked, put them in the Béaba Babycook® blending bowl.
  • Add the coconut milk to bring the purée to the desired consistency and blend.

TURKISH LAMB

SUITABLE FROM 9-12 MONTHS

INGREDIENTS

  • 10g lamb cubed
  • 65g aubergine peeled and cubed
  • ¼ onion chopped
  • 15g pasta
  • Teaspoon olive oil

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Place the pasta in the Béaba Babycook® Pasta/Rice Cooker with 45ml of water.
  • Pour water into the tank (level 3) and start the cooking cycle.
  • When cooked, set the pasta to one side.
  • Place the lamb, aubergine and onion in the Béaba Babycook® steamer basket.
  • Pour water into the tank (level 3) and start the cooking cycle.
  • When cooked, pour them into the Béaba Babycook® blending bowl, reserving the cooking liquid.
  • Add the pasta, olive oil and some of the cooking liquid to bring the purée to the desired consistency and blend.

CAULIFLOWER HAKE DAUPHINOISE

SUITABLE FROM 13-24 MONTHS

INGREDIENTS

  • 150g cauliflower florets
  • 60g potato peeled and chopped
  • 30g hake
  • 1 cm ginger peeled and diced finely
  • 1 tsp single cream

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Place the cauliflower, potato, hake and ginger into the Béaba Babycook® steamer basket.
  • Pour water into the tank (level 3).
  • Start the cooking process.
  • When the cauliflower, potato, hake and ginger, put them in the Béaba Babycook® blending bowl and set aside the cooking liquid.
  • Blend, adding the cream and some of the cooking liquid to bring to the desired consistency

BABY’S FIRST CHRISTMAS CAKE

SUITABLE FROM 12 MONTHS

INGREDIENTS

  • 50g Pitted dates
  • 40g Dried figs
  • 30g Dried apricots
  • 40g Cranberries
  • 40g Unsalted butter, melted
  • 35g Muscovado sugar
  • 35ml Runny Honey
  • 1 Unwaxed medium orange
  • ¼ tsp Mixed Spice

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Pre-heat your oven to 140C.
  • Process the dried figs, apricots and dates in Béaba Babycook® until chopped but not turned into a paste.
  • Zest and juice your orange. Reserve both juice and zest.
  • Put the chopped fruit and the cranberries in the steaming basket of your Béaba Babycook® and steam for 5min until soft.
  • Remove the stick fruit mix to a bowl and add the butter, sugar, honey, orange juice and zest, mixed spice, cinnamon and egg. Mix well with a spatula while the fruit is still hot.
  • Add the cocoa, flour, ground almonds, baking soda and bicarbonate and mix well.
  • Spoon the mixture into the 6 portions of your Béaba multiportion or use a bun tray and bake at 140C for 30min.
  • Check the mini-cakes are done by inserting a cake tester. These are gorgeously moist cakes so a little stickiness is expected.
  • Let them cool down completely in the Béaba multiportion/bun tray on a rack.
  • These cakes freeze really well in the Béaba multiportion but being fruitcakes they’ll last a very long time in the silicone container with the lid tightly on.
