5 Simple Ways to Look Like You’ve Had More Than 2 Hour’s Sleep

After years of contouring and covering blemishes, you might think it impossible to ditch your carefully planned makeup routine. But even during pregnancy you’ll start to see that time is precious when you’re running low on energy, and time in front of the mirror with a perfectly shaded brow pencil is something you just don’t have. Here at JoJo, we’ve rounded up our Top Tips to make sure you survive pregnancy and motherhood while still looking fresh-faced.

Wake up, Clean up

My grandma’s number one tip for a fresh face is to “wash with soap and water”. Luckily for me, we now have alternatives to this that won’t leave my eyes burning and skin feeling like the Sahara. Facial cleansing is a necessary ritual if you want a clean, bright and balanced look. Ideally you should cleanse both morning and evening, but as long as you find time at least once a day, it will make a huge difference.

Keep Smiling

Makeup can be great for covering blemishes, but there’s nothing to hide your teeth if you fail to keep up with your cleaning routine. A bright, white smile can change your whole appearance, so be sure to replace your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months, and find the perfect whitening toothpaste for you.

Hydration is Key

Yes, drinking water will improve your skin’s appearance, and give you a little energy boost once you’ve joined the No Sleep Club. But we’re talking about a different kind of hydration- moisturiser! Look out for supercharged face moisturisers to apply after your facewash for a smooth layer of protection. Great properties to look out for include SPF, light reflecting ability, and brightening capsules that work to keep your skin looking awake throughout the day.

Oils Really Are Essential

Most people are sceptical about adding oils into their routine, but facial oils can do a fantastic job of dissolving dirt, re-hydrating, boosting, and plumping your skin whether your skin is naturally oily, sensitive, or dry. Look out for essential oils such as chamomile, which has great soothing yet antiseptic properties.

Pamper Your Pout

Lipstick is easy enough to apply, but add a thick layer of colour and you’ll be worrying about smudging, fading and re-applying after every cup of coffee. A simple solution to this is to find a new tinted lip balm that will keep your lips feeling smooth and hydrated while still looking stylishly rouged.
