Helping Hands Community Grants: The Shortlist – Time to Get Voting!

As you may know, we recently launched Helping Hands, our new initiative that aims to provide charities, good causes and non-profit organisations with much-needed cash grants of up to £10,000. It was important to us that we involve our customers to shine a spotlight on the causes that matter to them the most, which is why we are opening up voting to the members of our JoJo Maman Bébé Community Facebook Group.

After hundreds of applications and much careful consideration, we have narrowed the shortlist down to six charities, and we need you to get voting for the ones you’d like us to support the most.

THE HUMAN MILK FOUNDATION

The Human Milk Foundation provides a life-changing service in London, the South East, East Anglia and beyond, providing donor breastmilk to premature and sick babies in NICU, as well mothers with cancer and other serious illnesses who are unable to breastfeed. Donor human milk is a scare resource, and many babies who need it still aren’t able to access it; but with extra funding, the charity will be able to scale up their milk bank capacity, so more babies can receive donor milk.

PROJECT MAMA

Based in Bristol, Project Mama offers free and confidential support to pregnant refugees, asylum seekers, survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking and other displaced women, supporting them through pregnancy, childbirth and the first few weeks of parenthood. The team of midwives, activists, doulas and birth companions form a network of skills and support for these women, who often face extreme difficulty accessing NHS services, language barriers and social isolation. Donations will help Project Mama to continue their vital work so fewer displaced women have to go through pregnancy and childbirth alone.

DAD LA SOUL

Dad La Soul is a social enterprise based in Worthing, West Sussex, aiming to battle social isolation and loneliness experienced by dads through art, tech, play and music events. 73% of dads admit to being lonely and 62% feel they lack companionship, which is why the organisation produces dad-friendly playdates, merchandise, content and training workshops to support dads in becoming the modern version they hope they can be. Dad La Soul is planning to launch specially adapted sessions for families with SEND needs (who are even more socially isolated), and a grant can help make it a reality.
