Baby Sleeping Bag & Sleep Snuggler Guide

Group 370

At JoJo, we understand how important it is to have trustworthy advice, especially when it comes to something as crucial as sleep. This is why we have written this sleeping bag guide in collaboration with the award-winning Sleep Consultant and Franchisor, Jenna Wilson, from Little Dreams Consulting, who brings years of expertise in helping families develop healthy sleep habits for their children.

It’s time for bed, say goodnight and snuggle up oh so tight... But sometimes, it’s hard to get little dreamers to settle down to a good night’s sleep. Our sleep snugglers and sleeping bags help soothe your baby so that they can sleep more soundly. Our sleep expert, Jenna Wilson emphasises how sleep bags can help to reduce the risk of SIDS as they prevent babies from wriggling down below the covers or pulling the covers over their heads. They also stop little wrigglers from kicking off the covers and getting cold. With this baby sleeping bag guide, you can discover what tog sleeping bag you need for your baby with our baby sleeping bag temperature guide. So let’s wriggle in and let the cosy moments begin…

How to use a baby sleeping bag

Sleeping bags can be a great transition from a swaddle. Once your little one is big enough to use a sleeping bag, you can pop it on as the last stage of their bedtime routine. If you are not quite sure where to start with a routine, our baby sleep guide might be a great place to start!

Try to ensure they are not too drowsy on their feed and wait until after their bedtime story to pop on their sleeping bag. Ensure you choose the correct size and tog rating for your little one and this will ensure they are safe and snug all night long. Just slip them in, zip it up or do up the poppers ,and to dreamland they go go…

Take a look at our helpful guide below, which sets out what your little one should wear, depending upon the temperature and tog.

How many sleep bags does a baby need

You are likely to need one lighter tog sleeping bag for summer and one heavier tog for winter, but a 2.5 tog style is a great all-year round option. Very low-tog sleeping bags can be helpful for daytime summer naps too, depending on the temperature. We would also suggest at least one spare of each in case of emergencies, such as poorly little ones or even leaky nappies!

What tog sleeping bag should I get for a baby

It is really important to choose a sleeping bag based on your little one’s size. Sleeping bags should fit well around your baby’s shoulders to prevent them from wriggling out of them and getting their face covered. The tog rating tells you the warmth they provide, so we recommend that you change their clothing and sleeping bag tog according to the weather (without extra bedding or blankets). Remember, the ideal temperature for your baby’s room is 16-20*.
