PLA is a material made using renewable plant-based fibres such as corn starch, wheat, sugar cane & even sweet potatoes. This mixture goes through a process to bring it all together, creating the plant-based resin known as Polylactic Acid - PLA! PLA is a food safe, durable alternative to oil-based plastics and is BPA and melamine free, while also being biodegradable and fully compostable. Does PLA contain plastic? PLA is also known as bioplastic or a thermoplastic and is solely derived from plant fibres and renewable sources only, not from oil like most traditional plastics. There are no traditional plastics added – so this is a great alternative. Are they dishwasher safe? Yes! For best results we recommend that you wash either in warm soapy water or on the top shelf of the dishwasher at a maximum of 60 degrees using a mild soap or detergent. Can I use in the microwave?
