The Best Babymoon Destinations for 2026

Before baby arrives, lots of parents-to-be take time for a special getaway together, known as a babymoon. It’s a chance to slow down, enjoy some proper quality time and soak up those quieter moments before life gets wonderfully busier. With so many beautiful destinations out there, choosing where to go can feel overwhelming. So, we've brought a little data into the daydreaming to help expectant parents plan the perfect getaway. Using everything from beach and hotel quality to restaurants, things to do and average climate, we’ve rounded up the best babymoon destinations to help make planning your pre-baby escape that little bit easier.

What are the benefits of taking a babymoon?

To understand the emotional benefits of a babymoon, we spoke to Dr Nina Memarnia, HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist at The Perinatal Psychologist, about why this time away can be so valuable during the transition to parenthood.

Dr Nina Memarnia says: “The transition to parenthood is a major life change for couples and can place even strong relationships under strain as roles shift. Even for experienced parents, expanding a family can bring its own changes and challenges.

“A babymoon can offer a valuable opportunity to spend uninterrupted time together, share thoughts and feelings about becoming parents and strengthen emotional connection.

“Pregnancy is often experienced as a mix of excitement and uncertainty. Stepping away from daily routines can help couples slow down and become more present, supporting a greater sense of calm and well-being. It can also create space for conversations that are often difficult to prioritise day-to-day, including expectations around the mental load of parenting and how support will be shared.

“Looking after emotional well-being during pregnancy is an important form of preparation. Prioritising rest and personal needs can support resilience during birth and the postnatal period. For couples taking time away on a babymoon, this can be an opportunity to reconnect and reflect on how they want to support one another during birth and early parenthood.”

Methodology and Sources

To identify the top babymoon destinations, we analysed a range of travel, wellbeing and lifestyle indicators to assess suitability for expectant parents. Destinations were scored across accommodation quality, dining, climate, leisure offering and accessibility.

Hotel data was collected from Booking.com, focusing on the proportion of 4 and 5-star hotels in each destination. We also assessed the availability of key amenities, including spa and wellness facilities, airport transfers and air conditioning, to reflect comfort and ease of stay.

Restaurant data was sourced from Tripadvisor, measuring the proportion of restaurants rated 4 stars or higher as an indicator of overall dining quality.

Average summer temperatures were calculated using WeatherSpark data (June–August). These figures were then benchmarked against an ideal comfort temperature of 27°C to reflect travel-friendly conditions.

The number of “things to do” in each destination was taken from TripAdvisor, providing an indication of the breadth of local activities available. A per capita adjustment was applied to ensure destinations were compared on a like-for-like basis, accounting for differences in size.

Beach ratings were sourced from Google Maps by averaging the first three non-sponsored beach listings per destination. Elevation range was calculated using topographic mapping data to assess overall terrain accessibility. All data was collected in May 2026.
